Frequently Asked Questions
Operating your TV station sounds complicated. Is it?
If your intention is to let patients have fun in an experience with live TV, then with the training provided by DIN, operating your station is very easy. You are also providing an experience they can’t get at home. DIN will train you to use this medium to help patients of all ages momentarily forget their illness while having lots of fun in the process.
Our Staff isn’t really technical. How will they manage?
Very well. DIN will train them in the application of the TV station’s functions in order to better facilitate their interaction with the patients and to insure that everyone has a fun, creative, and positive experience.
Is the training DIN provides focused primarily on the technical side?
No. Although some training time is spent on equipment use, the vast majority of training is focused on helping you determine and realize your goals for the station. We teach you how to have fun creating and producing TV shows of your choice.
How is the channel created? The cable company supplies our cable TV?
Din can integrate your TV station into the existing cable system. If implementation of your channel requires coordination with your cable provider, we will interface with the provider directly.
Can we broadcast groups when they come to entertain our patients?
Yes. You can also replay the program or any other programs you produce at anytime you choose.
How much facility space is required?
Very little. A desktop size table for the equipment and your existing activities area is all that is required.
How long to get the station operating?
Less than ninety (90) days from issuance of a purchase order.
How many staff personnel are required to operate the channel?
Many shows require only one staff/volunteer. For example “story lady” can be produced in merely the time that it takes to read a story. “Guess whose birthday is today” is a one-person show. A show such as “news and weather” can use several patients, but only requires one staff member.
This is in fact part of the magic of the DIN TV station - the number of personnel required is entirely in your control. Any program can use one or many staff/volunteers depending on the number of patients participating and your focus for that day. DIN training will enable you to manage the station and not have the station manage you. Also most of the actual programming time will be automated between the Warm and Fuzzy channel’s animals, repeats of prior live shows, and staff introductions. We have our own internal TV channel, but we have a lot of new staff. Is there training available for them?
Yes, DIN can offer you a number of different options to meet your training needs.
Are there any other benefits to staff and volunteers not previously discussed?
Yes, our experience shows that DIN TV
